This Locavore Event will be showing the movie “FRESH” on Wed., Aug 18 from 6:30 to 8 pm at St. Paul Lutheran Church located at 2136 N. Brady St. in Davenport.

The Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement, a group that opposes the Dittmer’s farm expansion from 9,285 hogs to 12,487 hogs, has been keeping their eye on the latest developments.
DNR preliminary field tests provide the Scott County Board of Supervisors with the tools to not recommend Mr. Dittmer’s proposal. Read the following article for more information:

A Meet & Greet with the Candidate for IA Secretary of Ag – Francis Thicke – Tuesday August 3rd, 5:30 – 7:30pm.
Francis Thicke is an organic dairy farmer, PhD Scientist, educator and author. He will speak on topics from his book, “A New Vision for Food and Agriculture”, at Antonella’s Restaurant, a Buy Fresh Buy Local restaurant. All are welcome to attend There will be advance copies of his book available.
Following the book talk, DFA Democracy for America Quad Cities Chapter will announce its endorsement of Francis Thicke and a reception will follow.

The 2nd Independent Film Event from Backdoor Independent Film Cafe is Saturday July 31, 2010 at the FIGGE Art Musuem in Davenport
Two films will be shown:
“The Lottery” at 3:00 p.m.
“ONDINE” at 5:15 p.m.
Tickets sold at the at the door:
$10 for 1 movie ticket or
$18 for 2 movie tickets (1 person watches both movies back to back)
Please join us for a social time from 4:30 p.m to 5 p.m. Snacks will be provided and included in the cost of 1 movie ticket. Drinks sold separately.
